MAF Inspection

車両船業務

Sun Phoenix offers agency services that include the application for and execution of the MAF inspection that is required for cars for export to New Zealand.

(Ports where the MAF inspection is available)
Kawasaki Port (Kanagawa Pref.), Nagoya Port (Aichi Pref.) and Senhoku Port (Osaka Pref.)

What is the MAF inspection?

Vehicles to be exported to New Zealand must be inspected by their MAF (Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry) inspectors to make sure that the vehicles are free from soil, plants, animals, insects and their eggs.

The MAF inspection can be done in New Zealand, but, to expedite the import customs clearance there, it is recommended to complete it prior to lading in Japan. Sun Phoenix has been providing services that may help pass the MAF inspection, such as cleaning, preliminary check and the application for the inspection.

From inspection to shipping and delivery in New Zealand

Sun Phoenix offers a door-to-door service in collaboration with Yusen Logistics and NYK Line (New Zealand) Ltd.

This is a package service that includes the MAF inspection, export customs declaration, ocean transportation, customs clearance in New Zealand and local delivery to the consignee. All you have to do is bring the cars for export into the SPX yard with necessary documents.

Transit time for the MAF inspection is shorter in Japan than in New Zealand.

Car carriers of Toyofuji Shipping Co., Ltd. operate on a regular schedule of every two weeks.

Toyofuji Shipping Co., Ltd. owns several car carriers such as TRANS FUTRE 5 and TRANS FUTRE 6. Those vessels operate on a frequent, regular schedule of every two weeks.

We offer delivery inside New Zealand.

After arrival in New Zealand , we can deliver your cargo to the local location designated by the consignee.

We will do preparations for export, such as removal of spare tires, on your behalf.

Cars will be brought to our cleaning booth to remove spare tires and floor mats before cleaning inside.

A car is put on the wash ladder to clean carefully, especially the wheel housings. The bottom side also will be washed with care. Dirty water after cleaning is stored temporarily in the pool below the wash ladder and then delivered to the sewage basin.

Inspection of the hood, engine room, trunk, seats, glove box and other components.

A car is put on the inspection ladder, and our inspector will try to reveal any damage or contamination by examining thoroughly with a hand-held light.

When the check is all done, the inspector will issue the green sticker. This means that no problems are found for the interior and exterior of the car and the car has passed the MAF inspection.

A special vehicles is placed on the inspection ramp with one end lifted, and the inspector on the creeper will check the bottom side. Then the other end is lifted for the similar inspection.

A vehicle that has passed the inspection (one with the green sticker) will be placed at a location three meters away from the contaminated area.
